(read my review of book one in the series here)
If you've read my last review, you know I was just WAITING to get through this one. I wanted so badly to find out how Lowell and Brent would get together, and this book didn't disappoint.
The slow burn between the two of them is delicious. They actually end up hooking up quite quickly, but the love takes a lot longer to come. The sweet moments when they started to have those feelings coming through were pure gold. I enjoyed the start of this relationship even more than I did in this relationship.
Loved: Lowell starting to fall for Brent. Realising he was okay with the mushy stuff. Just wanting to be held. So much heart eyes.
Liked: The tour they went on. I feel like I had a tourist trip along with everything else!
Disliked: Micah. Eek... I'm not sure if I'm ready to forgive him for his conduct enough to enjoy the next book. I really hope he snaps out of being an asshole.
Burning Question: Exactly how did they manage to fit a full tent, camping gear, and all of their other clothes and food into a tiny Porsche? Magic? Gremlins? A TARDIS-like secret boot compartment?
I received a free ARC copy of this book but my review is my genuine opinion.
Former hockey player Brent Cameron has a plan now that he's out of the closet. He'll take a summer road trip, find a job, and settle down with a fellow jock. Lowell Prescott is not part of that plan, but when Brent’s travel companion bails, he’s the only option.
Out and proud, Lowell has a love of sports, a flair of fashion, and a disdain for anything conventional. Burned by past relationships, he’s wary of jocks who want to change him—and that includes Brent Cameron.
Tempers flare and sparks fly as the miles disappear behind them. Just as it seems they might be on a journey to something more than Lake Superior, Brent receives a phone call that could change everything.
Will Brent stay with Lowell and ignore a friend in need, or go sit by the bedside of the man who broke Lowell's heart?
The stakes are high when you play for keeps.
