It's been a busy few weeks since my last update! I'm around the halfway mark of Serial Investigations 2's first draft: a little behind on schedule, but not so much that it will be impossible to pull it back.
I had a short break while I got stuck on a problem: how would this part of the plot work exactly? I like to plot my books in advance, but the finer details get filled in along the way. I had to work out a clever and sensible solution to how a certain event came to pass. I finally got there after doing a bit of research into psychology, so now I'm back on track and racing through it all.
Last week I was interviewed on Verve Radio, a university station. I know the host, Anna Njie, from my work with London Runway. The interview is a lot about the magazine, but hopefully some interesting snippets (especially for aspiring writers wanting to get some hands-on experience). You can watch a recording of the livestream here.
I'm also planning a couple of writing workshops, which I'll be holding soon. The first is a general skills workshop which is open only for my current team members, but in a few months' time I'm aiming to start opening up the workshops to the public.
The second is with a writing group which I've been a member of for a couple of years. I took a bit of a hiatus from going to meetings due to my health, but I'm now back and a lot of the other writers were curious about my experiences with publishing. I'll be talking about self-publishing, how to figure out if it's right for you, and what it takes. That hasn't been announced yet, but when it is, it will only be open to members of the London Writer's Cafe on MeetUp.
That's all the housekeeping for now - make sure to subscribe to my mailing list if you want more details about what I've been up to for the end of the month!
